LGE should apply online to participate in eligible projects. LGE are encouraged to answer any question and select desired projects to the best of your ability. LGE projects will be available and approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Approved LGE projects will include only one-time cybersecurity services. LGE will not receive direct grant monies but will receive services and resources through the SAA, this will allow a more effective and efficient use of the limited grant funds.
As you start to fill out the application online, do not refresh or close your browser window until you have submitted your application. One application will suffice for either one, some, or all of the offered projects. You have no obligation to accept services and resources. Applicants may freely pick and choose from the Opportunities list.
The SAA, committee, or Federal partners have the right to deny LGE services or resources as may be determined best for the program. SAA aims to notify applicants whether their requested services can be fulfilled as soon as possible after the application has been submitted or an application window has closed. Implementation may take days or weeks if awarded and depends on which projects are selected by the LGE and (when the federal funds become available). Some services may require additional documents or memorandums of understating (MOUs) to be established.
The SAA has secured four (4) rounds of funds to be used for approved projects to LGE. For Round One (FY22 - FY25), Alabama has $3.07 million available for local government entity (LGE) cybersecurity projects. The SAA secured a matching cost-share waiver (10%) for Round One. For Round Two (FY23 - FY26), Alabama has $6.27 million available and secured a waiver (20%). For Round Three (FY24 - FY27), $4.73 million and a cost share waiver (30%) is pending. For Round Four (FY25-FY28), $1.55 million with a 40% cost share match, and a waiver was not allowed.
OIT partners with Auburn University’s McCrary Institute to provide cybersecurity planning, advisement, and project activities.
SAA may present or enable procurement of, but does not endorse, any commercial product or service. SAA does not attest to the suitability or effectiveness of SLCGP funded services and resources for any particular use case. Any reference to specific commercial products, processes, providers, or services by service mark, trademark, manufacturer, or otherwise, does not constitute or imply their endorsement, recommendation, or favoring by the SAA. LGE may submit alternative cybersecurity products, services, or suppliers for review and approval if the LGE desires consideration.
Federal funds may be reduced, eliminated, or include additional LGE responsibilities in subsequent funding rounds. As a result, SAA recommends LGE prepare for possible future project sustainment.
